Information for Healthcare & Allied Professionals

This page provides general information for regulated healthcare providers and allied professionals regarding the scope, approach, and professional boundaries of Registered Massage Therapy care delivered in a mobile, in-home setting.

All care is provided by a Registered Massage Therapist in Ontario and follows the standards outlined by the RHPA and CMTO.

Scope of Practice

Massage therapy care includes:

• assessment and hands-on treatment of soft tissues and related structures

• conservative, symptom-guided manual therapy

• ongoing adaptation based on patient presentation, comfort, and informed consent

Massage therapy does not:

• diagnose medical conditions

• replace medical or rehabilitative care

• provide medical clearance

• guarantee outcomes

Clinical Focus Areas (Non-Diagnostic)

Massage therapy may support individuals presenting with:

• jaw or TMJD-related musculoskeletal discomfort

• post-surgical or post-procedural scar sensitivity or restriction

• post-injury or post-concussion-type physical strain where massage therapy is clinically appropriate

These descriptions reflect functional presentation rather than medical diagnosis.

Treatment Approach

Care is guided by:

• conservative pacing and tissue tolerance

• emphasis on patient comfort and ongoing consent

• external manual therapy with optional adjunct tools when appropriate

• regular communication and reassessment throughout care

Treatment plans are individualized and adjusted session by session in response to patient presentation and progress.
