Scope of Practice

Care is provided by a Registered Massage Therapist (Ontario) within the scope defined by the RHPA and CMTO.

Massage therapy services involve:

Assessment and treatment of soft tissues and related structures

Symptom-guided, conservative manual therapy

Adaptation based on patient tolerance, consent, and presentation

Massage therapy does not:

Diagnose medical conditions

Replace medical care

Provide medical clearance

Guarantee outcomes

Clinical Focus Areas (Non-Diagnostic)

Massage therapy care may be offered for individuals presenting with:

Jaw / TMJD-related musculoskeletal discomfort

Post-surgical or post-procedural scar sensitivity or restriction

Post-injury or post-concussion–type symptoms where massage therapy is appropriate

Treatment Approach

Care is characterized by:

Conservative pacing

Emphasis on patient comfort and consent

External manual therapy with optional adjunct tools

Ongoing communication and reassessment

Treatment plans are individualized and adjusted session-by-session.
