Scope of Practice

  • Care is provided by a Registered Massage Therapist (Ontario) within the scope defined by the RHPA and CMTO.

  • Massage therapy services involve:

  • Assessment and treatment of soft tissues and related structures

  • Symptom-guided, conservative manual therapy

  • Adaptation based on patient tolerance, consent, and presentation

Massage therapy does not:

  • Diagnose medical conditions

  • Replace medical care

  • Provide medical clearance

  • Guarantee outcomes

Clinical Focus Areas (Non-Diagnostic)

Massage therapy care may be offered for individuals presenting with:

  • Jaw / TMJD-related musculoskeletal discomfort

  • Post-surgical or post-procedural scar sensitivity or restriction

  • Post-injury or post-concussion–type symptoms where massage therapy is appropriate

  • These descriptors reflect presentation, not diagnosis.

Treatment Approach

Care is characterized by:

  • Conservative pacing

  • Emphasis on patient comfort and consent

  • External manual therapy with optional adjunct tools

  • Ongoing communication and reassessment

  • Treatment plans are individualized and adjusted session-by-session.
